Rowan read Drama at Newman University College in Birmingham and graduated with an upper second class Bachelor of Arts degree with honours from the University of Leicester.
At the institution he was elected Sports Development Officer with the Students’ Union for two years and served as a Trustee for the Union. This page will give a brief explanation of the responsibilities and duties of the post.
Since graduating he was elected to local government serving the people of Littleworth ward in Stafford Borough as their ward Councillor. For more information on his responsibilities please see this page.
Achievements:
- Over the 2008-2010 period I responsible for collectively running a 3,000 member Union with a personal budget of over £10,000 and leading a team of over 12 people that increased fund-raising results by 200% over a period of 9 months.
- I also identified the need for a training and reward scheme where I wrote and delivered the policy, strategically outlining key areas for tiered development focusing on improving skills possessed by leaders and members, increasing expectations of stakeholders and introducing regular review periods.
- These achievements, along with dedicated and outstanding service, lead to two nominations for Newman Students’ Union’s Sports Person of the Year and Platinum Distinction in 2009-2010.
